Each year, the KWWS Guild puts on two Show and Sales: usually the 3rd weekend in April and November in conjunction with the Waterloo Potters’ Workshop Sale. The sales show the public the range of beautiful products that the Guild members make and allow members and the Guild to profit from their craft.
Featured at the sales are a variety of contributions including wearable art, home décor, and gifts expertly crafted by the more than 40 current members of the Guild, many of whom have won awards for their artistry and whose work is highly sought after by individuals who recognize the high calibre of their creations.
Any items hand woven and/or hand spun or felted by members may be submitted for a Guild Show and Sale
The Sales Committee relies on Guild members to assist at the sale. A signup schedule will be available online for jobs and everyone participating in the sale is encouraged to participate in running it.
Join our mailing list to get notified, by email, of upcoming sales.
We are an active community of weavers and spinners and we welcome visitors to our studio. Come out to one of our monthly meetings, held in person at our studio at 7:00 pm on the first Wednesday of the month. During the summer – July and August, we do not hold meetings.
Each meeting typically consists of the business portion, where current business is discussed and/or voted on with the guild members, a Show & Tell where members are encouraged to show off what they have made or learned and a Program section, where we often have outside speakers on any number of fibre related topics.
As a member, you do not have to attend meetings, although we’d love for you to participate in our decision making and our "show and tell."
Traditionally the June and December meeting are social events either at the Guild or hosted by one of the members.
The July and August activities are informal.
The Annual General Meeting is held in May when the Board of Directors and committee members are announced.

KWWS is committed to promoting fiber arts and sharing our expertise with the community. Community Outreach participates in programs at local schools and libraries, demonstrations at local K-W events and other public venues. Members demonstrate traditional and contemporary fibre art skills to historical, art and school groups across the region.
Our Projects Committees always have exciting projects that members are invited to join. The guild provides the yarn and the loom, or other equipment and members pay a low cost to participate. Past project/workshops have been weaving curtains on the 120" Loom, Flower Tea Towels, Log Cabin Tea Towels and Dye Days.
Every third Wednesday of the month, the Spinners of the guild get together for a Spin & Chat. Spinning is not obligatory nor is it just for spinners - some members just come for the company, others come with knitting. It's a fun evening, starting at 7:00pm and usually ending by 9:00pm. If you would like to attend one, please drop us a message to arrange it.
The K-W Weavers' and Spinners' Guild is a non-profit organization and is mostly self-funded. We accept Monetary Donations and also we will happily consider donations of weaving and spinning equipment and yarn in good condition. It's a great way to keep the fibre arts alive! Items donated may be used within the guild or donated items may be sold at our annual auction with all proceeds going to the Guild.
We're sorry, but we do not purchase items for resale.
Each year in place of our February meeting, the Guild holds an Auction and sends out invites to local fibre artists. Our auctions feature two parts - a Fixed Price room, where we have yarn and wool by the pound, and other items such as books, spinning or weaving tools, bobbins, shuttles, etc. All items in the Fixed Price room are under $25.00. And we often have the Dollar a Ball Bin.
At the auction, in the past we have had such items like: drum carders, floor and table looms, spinning Wheels, acid dyes, rovings, batts of fibre, wool, exotic yarns and much, much more.
The Guild auction sale at the February meeting provides an opportunity for members to buy and sell yarns and equipment, and the Guild receives a 15% commission on sales.
Outside, non-members are also encouraged to participated as either a buyer or seller in the auction or fixed price area. The Guild receives 25% commission on these sales.
Sometimes you just need to have a garage sale. These are impromptu events, put on by the Guild to make room both at the guild and at our houses. The only restriction on the items to be sold is that they have to be at the guild for the garage sale and they must be fibre related. This is a fun event and usually has lots of goodies to pickup!
