I’ve always been a bit of a dabbler in the craftier arts. When I was a child, I used to knit, crochet, paint and draw – usually horses. Of course, I was a child that was mad for horses, something that we couldn’t afford. Finally when I turned 40, I was able to learn to ride, eventually progressing to owning my own farm and horses.
Over the years I’ve tried my hand at various crafts – from soap making, stained glass, pottery and now spinning and weaving. I like to try to tie in aspects from different crafts into my current ‘obsession’ and what you see here today is a meld of weaving, polymer clay or gemstones and wire to create unique jewellery.
I love the fact that each piece is different – the wire and stone seem to dictate what the finished piece will look like and each piece is unique. The gemstone settings are all made with wire – with little or no solder, relying instead upon weaving different thicknesses of wire together. Different weave patterns, different types of wire and different base materials give each gemstone a slightly different look and feel. I hope you enjoy wearing any purchases as much as I enjoy making them.
Let me introduce you to the model for my logo - Thunder.
